This calculator uses typical New York–area handyman, plumbing-friendly, and electrical-friendly rates as a guide. It is designed to give homeowners a realistic ballpark before sending photos.

Location factor: NYC jobs often run higher than Westchester or Southern CT because of access, parking, and building rules.
Department & sub-task: Plumbing and electrical items generally have higher base pricing than simple TV mounting or paint touch-ups. Sub-tasks like toilet replacement, water heater work, or ceiling fan installs add more time.
